Hamfesters is Announcing a Technician license class starting on June 4th, 2024 6:30pm (1830)

Location: Oak Forest Hospital Campus (EMA building)

Schedule: Every Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-9pm starting June 4th, 2024 – June 27th, 2024

Class is free! $15 to test for your license.
ARRL reference books can be procured on the first day of class, the first 20 to sign up are free of charge.

Enrollment is closed.

 

All Classes are 2.5 Hours in length with a 10- 15 minute break.

There will be multiple instructors for different chapters of this course.

Anyone that feels lost can request additional help from one of the instructors.

Classroom size may be limited to a max of 30, so please register asap.

  • Day 1 – June 4th – Welcome to Amateur Radio Chapter 1 & Radio and Signals Fundamentals Chapter 2
  • Day 2 – June 6th – Electricity, Components and Circuits Chapter 3
  • Day 3 – June 11th – Propagation, Antennas and Feed Lines Chapter 4
  • Day 4 – June 13th – Amateur Radio Equipment Chapter 5 & Communicating with Other Hams Chapter 6
  • Day 5 – June 18th – Licensing Regulations Chapter 7 & Operating Regulations Chapter 8
  • Day 6 – June 20th – RF, Electrical and Lightning Safety Chapter 9
  • Day 7 – June 25th – Course Review, Questions & Answers / TECHNICIAN EXAM Given

Driving Instructions
Entry is east of Cicero Ave on 159 street (south side of the street) – Stop Light with Gates entry.
The South Cook County EMA building is the tallest building on the campus. Once you drive to the Security Shack, the building is just slightly to the right of the Main drive. You will be able to see all the antennas on top of the building.  It is an “H shape” building.
