Check out the Worked Hamfesters Award. You need to contact Hamfesters Radio Club members to qualify for this much sought after award. You can use any mode and any frequency.

Basic award is issued for the following conditions: 10 contacts within state of Illinois; 5 contacts from out of state; 3 from out of country; and only 1 contact if from out of this world.

Contact the club president for more information or to apply for the award. Endorsements are available for increased number of contacts with club members.

Submarines On The Air --- April On the last weekend of April upwards of 50 Hamfesters board the U-505 submarine captured German U-boat now located at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Operating from the '505's radio room and the the club's trailer at the stern of the boat, operators take turns contacting other submarines, submarine memorials, and other stations around the world. Our Field Day simulates emergency operating conditions were we operate portable radio equipment "in the field" with temporary antennas and emergency gas generators, solar power, and even bicycle driven generator power. We operate with voice and Morse code. There may be some digital operation also. Field Day is always held on the fourth weekend of June. Location is at 111th St. and 86th Ave. in Palos Hills. This year it will be on June 25 and 26, 2005. Set up begins at 0900 Saturday morning. The contest begins at 1300 and goes until 1300 on the following day, Sunday. Interspersed with the radio operating is a feast provided by our Chief Cook. We have the best gourmet food while in the "field" of any amateur effort.

Every year "Santa" arrives for our December Meeting. We enjoy a full sitdown dinner and then a short fun business meeting.
